Sub-contracted through NetSurvey to provide Marin Mätteknik AB with specialist multibeam personnel onboard the MV Edda Freya for the Nord Stream Pipeline Survey project. Nord Stream consists of two 1,224 kilometre natural gas pipelines through the Baltic Sea, from Vyborg, Russia to Greifswald, Germany. When fully operational in late 2012, the twin pipeline system will supply 55 billion cubic metres of Russian gas a year to the EU. The MV Edda Freya is providing Survey Support Services, conducting a variety of ROV-based survey tasks. A Sub-Atlantic Comanche Small Work Class ROV has been fitted with a dual Reson 7125 multibeam system, together with an iXSea PHINS 6000 inertial navigation system. As-laid surveys were conducted using the QINSy and VisualSoft software packages for data acquisition and processing. Data from the PHINS system was post-processed using iXSea’s Delph INS software. Fledermaus was used for data cleaning, surface generation, and visualization.
